Here
are a few handy hints and tips provided by some local IT Techies
1) If your a Westnet customer,
you are half way there,

Westnet provide FREE
online / phone service to its Customers , so I would recommend
that you call Westnet first as they would be able to help fix most problems you
encounter
Westnet Customer Support No 1300 786 068
2) Google can be your best friend
I can ALMOST guarantee someone
else out there has had the same problem as you,
so it most likely someone has wrote an article on this problem with a way to
solve it ,
the trick is for you to word your problem correctly in the GOOGLE SEARCH bar.
Very important that you
DO NOT DOWNLOAD any software that comes recommended
as sometimes this will give you more problems than what you started with.
READ the forums and advice
columns and if numerous people are saying the same thing in
different forums then you MIGHT be right to proceed with thier advice, keep in
mind this
is only general advice but if you are still not sure then call one of
Kalbarri's Local Techies listed to the left.
The time you spend looking this
up may save you up to $100 in call out fees.
3) Annoying Popups
This seems to be one of the
most common problems faced by computer owners, Popups can
be annoying to downright dangerous to your computer.
A common popup will say your
computer is at risk or has multiple infections , some will also
say this a MICROSOFT notifacation and your computer has multiple errors , these
are
generally fake messages to get you to click the popup which can install
malicious programs
Clicking anywhere within the
pop-up, even the 'x' or 'close' box, can install adware and other
malware to your system instead of actually closing the pop-up. Be very careful.
To close them safely, use ctrl-W.
Again if unsure contact WESTNET if you are a Westnet Customer
4) Avoid being Ripped Off
